5 Features WordPress Needs To Create

Hey girl hey. And boy.

You probably read the title like ‘what could possibly be more to add?’ but hopefully, by the end of this, you’ll realize some things could be easier with these new features! I sound like a commercial! I also tried not to be a really dramatic grandma and made most things realistic in case WordPress decides to read this and consider some ideas – hello Matt Mullenweg 😂. Before we begin – two things. One, why do I keep missing Fridays? My mind cannot be creative on those days for some reason. And two, this is inspired by May’s 9 Improvements to WordPress All Bloggers Would Love. She’s an amazing blogger and I recommend following her if you don’t already. Anyways, let’s get starteddd.

  • Bloggers DM

I know we have separate contact forms and Instagram pages but wouldn’t it all be easier if we had a WordPress chat room? Collabs would be way easier to arrange and we can make group chats as well. I feel like I’m the only one who needs this because I hardly check my blog Instagram or email and when I do, it’s either “dry” or has a few messages from weeks prior. With a separate Wordpress dm, I can just receive notifications instead of checking all other social media sites. Yes, it’s just me being lazy but isn’t that why most things are invented? Instant messages because we’re too lazy to send physical mail. Cars because we’re too lazy to walk long distances. Planes because we’re too lazy to – okay there’s no excuse for that one but still. 😂 Wordpress, we need this!

I love making award posts. It’s fun answering questions and reading bloggers’ answers to your questions, but when you get to the nominating part, it can get a bit annoying. First, you have to find people to nominate which is difficult in itself if you made many award posts before and you sort of ran out of people. THEN, you have to link their blog sites and sometimes even blog posts if you want to notify them. That takes forever and I only nominate 5 people – other bloggers nominate like 5 billion. 😂 Wouldn’t it all be easier if there was a blogger name suggestion like the ones on Instagram when you tag someone in your story, your post or a comment? You type in a few letters and bam– Instagram does the rest. That would save so much time if it were a WordPress feature.

I blocked out everything for privacy but you get the idea.

  • Nomination Alert

This is kind of related to the last one but instead of commenting on everyone’s post notifying them of their nomination, WordPress can do it for you! Imagine😂… a notification from WordPress :

You’ve been nominated for the Awesome Blogger Award by *insert username*

You’ve been nominated for the Liebster Award by *insert username*

I’m not sure how this would work but maybe it can detect your blog name from feature #2 and send a notification right away – kind of like “so and so mentioned you in their story” message on Instagram. It looks like I’m trying to transform WordPress into Instagram. Next thing you know, there’ll be WordPress ‘stories’ – okay no, let’s not do that. 😂 Anyways, it would be even better if we had a digital award post checklist. That way, you can keep track of awards you missed and check off ones you completed. That would be amazing! Come on WordPress, I’ll love you forever.

Okay okay, I might’ve copied Youtube with this one and I know there are email subscriptions but who even checks their email nowadays? Okay no, I’m the only one who doesn’t but posts can easily be buried by all other junk mail (birchbox coupon codes, I’m looking at you)😂. With this new feature, you’ll get notified each time your favourite blogger uploads – I better be on that list (haha jk no pressure…not). I know it can be a bit hectic if you have like 50 people on the list which is why you shouldn’t😂. Maybe have like 2 or 3 bloggers you really enjoy and that way, you won’t miss anything. You could always scroll through your Readers but it could all pile up if you haven’t been on WordPress for a while. You’ll be able to binge read your favourite bloggers after a WordPress hiatus – how convenient! 😁 And yeah, you can always just search them up and read that way but why go to the posts when they can just come to you? 🙃(and that was a peek of what it’s like to have a lazy mindset)

  • Recommended Bloggers

I’m always on the lookout for new bloggers to check out because let’s face it, old bloggers are so last year. HAHA just kiddingg, I love you all but every once in a while, I look for new content to read. 😂 Most of the time, I can’t seem to find people that capture my interest. (I have high standards and even my blog doesn’t meet them smh) So wouldn’t it be cool if WordPress gives you a list of bloggers that you might like? This could be done two ways.

1. They could be mutual meaning they follow some of the same bloggers as you or/and bloggers you know follow them.

ORRR…

2. WordPress can host a quiz to find your blogging twin! And I can help make it! Basically wordpress would ask you questions about your interests and then generates someone who has the most similar answers (basically bloggers you have the most in common with). If you get someone you already know, there could be a Take This Quiz Again button and you’ll get different questions to answer. I feel like my imagination is getting too wild with this one but if WordPress can find a way to make this happen, I would really appreciate it. 👌

Anddd that’s all for today. Everyone spam WordPress with this post (or maybe don’t 😂). Do you have any other things you want WordPress to add? Leave it in the comments below. I hope you all have a great week (Monday tomorrow nooo) and I’ll see you on Tuesday.

Great post and suggestions. 🙂 As for your last one, I usually find new blogs by clicking on Search under the Reader tab, and it usually brings up blog posts that they think I would be interested in.

Ahhh yes!! I honestly hope WordPress reads this hahaha! WordPress DM’s would be so freaking helpful and fun! All us bloggers should collaborate in a huge blog tag for new features we would want. Oooh that’s actually not a bad idea ahaha😂. Love this post! Xx, Stell :).

Actually a recommended blogger actually exists in your reader, I get recommended people all the time! Also I kinda find it annoying because wordpress does not know how to recommend :\

These are brilliant ideas. I agree that it would be good to have different levels of engagement (priorities) for blogs you follow. Some are for opportunistic quick fixes, but some are like blog soulmates. Maybe an ‘I’m in the mood for…’ options (oh wait, no, we’ve got that with tags? 🤪). I like the blog twin idea.

Yaas! Girl!!! YASSSS! 👏🏾👏🏾I don’t think WordPress is user friendly at all. The concept is great but functionality is so 1985, where’s my floppy disc? Lol

Email subscription is my current dilemma for me at the moment! How do you flipping add it to a page?!! 🙅🏾‍♀️
