Hey girl hey. And boy.

This time last year, I received an optimism award given to two students from every school in my area. I remember feeling overjoyed and I couldn’t believe that I got it because I was new to the school and I thought why not make my own award to pass this on to other bloggers who have made a difference in the blogging community? I’ve attempted to make my own tag before but people found it a bit complicated so I’ll be sure to make this award an easy one to follow along with. Before we get started with the rules here is the criteria for this award:

This award is for bloggers who are community-minded citizens in the blogosphere and beyond. This blogger is kind, considerate, helpful, responsible and reliable. This blogger is actively engaged with their audience and the bloggers around them. This blogger is admirable and someone who lifts others with a positive and optimistic attitude. If you get tagged for this award, congratulations, you truly made a difference in the blogosphere.

Some of the things above I have rephrased from the letter I received for the community one and before I tag anyone, I just want you all to know that you make a difference in my life every day and that I truly enjoy your content and hard work. Keep doing what you do – I’m proud of every single one of you! ❤ Now enough being cheesy and let’s get on with the rules.

My 7 Questions To You (also answered by me)

I tried to make a mix of light-hearted and heavy questions so here we go!

1. What was the best year of your life so far and why?

I’d say 5th or 7th grade. You guys see me refer to these so much but I had the best group of friends around this time and had so many memorable experiences! Everything that happened that year makes me look back and laugh and ugh I’m just so glad they happened.

2. What was the biggest problem you faced and how did you overcome it?

Honestly, my life has been pretty easy (so far) – I have nothing to complain about but the biggest problem I faced was probably moving back again last year. I felt like I didn’t belong and I didn’t have any solid friends and I just felt like I was different and it was the first time I actually disliked school. I had many breakdowns that year (for spiritual reasons) and although it was probably the hardest, I learned so much from it and it turned out okay in the end. I overcame it by looking at the positives and tried to focus on the lessons it taught me and what it means to just let loose sometimes.

3. What’s your favourite fast food restaurant?

Subwayyy! Subway is sooo good I love it so much and I don’t even know if I need to say anymore but whenever I eat it, I don’t feel like my food was too oily or too greasy and it’s such a healthy alternative to a lot of fast food out there.

4. If you could have one thought pop into people’s head when they first meet you, what would it be? (essentially what first impression would you like to give off)

“Alert alert potato coming through.”

Jk jk 😂 – I just want people to think, “I can trust this person and talk to them”. I feel like sometimes I come off unapproachable for some reason and I just wish people knew that I’m not as quiet or boring or judgy as they might think I am. This goes to this year because sis I’m having a hard time talking to people at my school and the years when it was so easy to talk and connect are long gone but maybe that’s just the shift in environment.

5. If everything in the world was one colour what would you want it to be? (it could be different shades)

Okay this is a hard one but I’d maybe want purple. I love lavender so much and having a lavender sky or lavender water would be pretty dope!

6. What’s the most scandalous/terrible thing you did as a child?

Oh my goodness you guys I was such a troublemaker as a kid. I kept getting in trouble in 1st and 2nd grade because I kept going to class before the national anthem outside was over. But hm maybe the most scandalous thing I did was in 4th grade when I almost got my neighbors missing. I used to live across a local mosque and every year, they’d have an open house where you could learn about Islam. My non-muslim neighbors were curious about it so I told them and I decided to take them there (keep in mind we were all kids). I asked my mom and she said no need and turns out they didn’t even ask their mom so we went anyways.

There was a gallery of different brochures and presentations and I quickly realized I lost hold of one of the girls. Me and her sister went around the whole mosque looking for her and when we couldn’t find her, the mom and older sister got involved and they were crying and they sent out a mini search party with pictures of what she looked like. I was legit so scared and we were on the verge of calling the police but suddenly, she appeared from the doors again and turns out she was wandering the new school connected to the mosque and when we were searching for her, she had to use the washroom. We couldn’t play together for 2 weeks and my parents gave me a fat lecture. Ah well lesson learned – never go anywhere without parent approval because parents are always right.

7. What’s your favourite thing about yourself?

To be honest, I like my physical appearance just the way it is. I don’t struggle with body image anymore but if we’re talking personality wise then maybe the desire to learn. A lot of people my age don’t really care about the people around them or long term things and I feel like my desire to discover and have conversations with new people and talk about issues openly really took me places in the past few years. I’m always open to trying new things (within laws and morality obviously) and I really like that about myself because it opens my mind to different things and the passions I have today wouldn’t be here if I didn’t say yes to the opportunities that were out there.

Hiddenz – Gurll your posts are always so helpful and fun to read. Your posts are so aesthetic and I love your monthly recaps so much!! I always look forward to reading your posts and you’re always spreading positive vibes wherever you go. And aah we can get hyped for Ramadan togetherrr!

Jade – Aah sisss I love how you’re so open and authentic in your posts. I love your talks about mental health and your strength continues to astonish me. You’re so supportive and although we disagree on some things, you are really respectful and your posts give me a lot of insight. Stay optimistic!

Gracie – GIRL you are so so supportive to everyone in this blogosphere and your poems and posts always leave me speechless. You handle everything so well and aah you’re just an all-around amazing positive blogger! Keep doing what you do – I’m so proud of the strong woman that you are. ❤
